CeMAT ASIA 2008 is to be held from October 27 to 30 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. It covers an area of 24,000 sq m with expected 380 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions to attend. It is jointly organized by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Deutsche Messe and Hannover Fairs Shanghai Ltd, with support from the Logistics Engineering Institution of CMES, the Being Material Handling Research Institute, Ryuken, the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Centre for Construction Machinery and Cranes and Conveyors and the Trade Association of Shanghai.

As a leading event in the field, CeMAT ASIA will showcase the latest technology, products and industry trends. 60,000 participants are estimated to visit and trade in the two exhibition hall of the show.

Integration area
Because of the development of information technology, e-business and supply chain management over the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-10), the logistics in China is growing unprecedently rapid. A logistics system integration area at the show will provide a platform where integrators, solution providers, software makers and service providers will display state-of-art technologies for planning, integrated and automated logistics, wireless radio frequently (RFID)technology, and GPS.

Driverless transport
Deutsche Messe, together with Leibniz University Hannover will host an automated guided vehicles (AGV) pavilion to show driverless transport systems to illustrate advanced technology and expand Chinese logistics channels. AGVs make transportation in flexible manufacturing and automated inventory. According to its inventors, the newly developed AGV approach lowers labor needs while increasing operating efficiency and service quality at less cost.

As in the past years, CeMAT ASIA 2008 will have a great number of industrial giants participating. All top 10 forklift makers will be present, including international manufacturers Linde, Toyota, Jungheinrich and Komatsu, and domestic producers Anhui Heli, Liugong, Jingjiang, Global Friend, Baoli, Ruyi, Hu-Lift, Noblelift, E-P and Maximal. Many fledging overseas companies will make their first visit to the event, such as TCM, Sunward Intelligent, Zheli and Goodsense.

Forum and conferences
A series of forums and conferences will be held as part of the industry fair to outline trends in the development of logistics technology and equipment.
