East China Fair (ECF) is the largest regional trade fair in China with the most traders, great variety of exhibits and the most onsite deals. With an annul 5-day session from March 1st in Shanghai, ECF is co-sponsored by nine provinces and cities, namely Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong Province and two cities of Nanjing and Ningbo.
Since 1991, ECF has become an important window for the 9 provinces and municipals in Eastern China to open up and exchange information. As a platform for enterprises in Eastern China to go global, ECF has played an essential role in Eastern China’s foreign trade development. Looking back at the progress of ECF, there are three steps in general.
The 1st step: Since 2000, ECF has transferred from a comprehensive fair to a fair specialized mainly in textile products.
The 2ed step: To solve the problem of unclear distribution and crossing-region display, in 2002 and 2003 ECF cancelled comprehensive hall and overseas hall respectively and added 2 halls for textile garment and light industrial technology.
The 3rd step: Thanks to the establishment of United Trade Group in 1991, ECF has become the largest regional fair in China by continuous innovation and reform. The group’s responsibility is to contact, transport, display the products, and serve customers from different countries.
To further expand the overseas influence and develop the East China Fair brand, the East China Fair (2006 Osaka) was held successfully in the Osaka International Expo Center from Nov.28 to Dec.1 2006. It is the largest regional trade fair with greatest numbers of municipal and provincial exhibitors China has ever held abroad. Within 4 days, over 8000 traveling merchants and business visitors were attracted, most of whom were specialized merchants from Japan. Wholesalers and logistic merchants account for 51.6% of total business visitors, the trade corporations account for 31.7% retail merchants account for 4.4%, and the rest account for 12.3%.
