This year’s Automechanika Shanghai show will attract a record-breaking 1,900 exhibitors. The show this time will be held from December 10 to 12, accommodated by 92,000 sq m which is an 80% increase in hall space at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
The large scale and so many participants reaffirm that Automechanika Shanghai is one of China’s leading professional forums for automotive parts, components and equipment. Together there are 13 Automechanika trade shows around the world and the one in Shanghai is the second largest, following its flagship Frankfurt forum, which celebrated its 20th anniversary from September 16 to 21.
Automechanika Shanghai is an important sourcing venue for domestic and international buyers, while it is an opportunity for exhibitors to enlarge sales and gain exposure as well as meet potential Chinese partners.
The global brand format in the Automechanika show offers all kinds of products you can imagine from basic to hi-tech displayed in five categories—parts and systems, accessories and tuning, repair and maintenance, IT and management, and service station and car wash.
Increasing scale
More and more overseas associations are organizing groups to display their products in special international pavilions. They include:
- Rubber parts products are showcased by the Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council.
- The Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei in China’s Taiwan province support the Taiwan pavilion.
- The German pavilion is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in cooperation with the German Association of Trade Fair Industry.
- The United States pavilion is supported by the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association and for the first time is certified by the US Department of Commerce.
Also for the first time, the Spanish Automotive Equipment and Components Manufacturers Association, the Chamber of Commerce of Brescia, Italy and UBI France are going to send delegations to the show.
Manufacturers and suppliers from all over the country will come to this show. The participants include regional group pavilions from Taizhou, Ningbo, Yuhuan, Rui’an, Wuhu and Quanzhou, and key auto production provinces such as Guangdong, Hubei, Sichuan, Shandong and Jilin.
The industry groups that participants represent include motor and diesel engines, electrical appliances and parts and accessories.
Some of the best-known brand names will appear in the parts and systems category including Dongfeng Motor’s Parts and Components Business Unit, Wanxing Group, Shanxi Fast Gear and China North Industries. Heading up the repair and maintenance category will be global giants Bosch, Corghi and Snap-on,and representing China, launch Tech and Maxima.

- Automechanika Academy
Sessions feature invited industry experts discussing automotive original equipment and aftermarket topics.
- Automechanika Matchmaking Forum
A one-on-one appointment scheduling service will enable buyers to meet with suppliers on-site according to their preset criteria.
- Fourth International Forum on Service Outsourcing in the Manufacturing Industry
This forum covers a variety of topics including industry standards of service outsourcing, third-party logistics management, tool management and chemical product management.
Fast-growing industry
China’s fast-growing economy has applied a complete environment for the automaobile industry with domestic sales expected to grow by 12% to hit 10 million units this year.
According to the latest figures, more than 4.3 million vehicles were sold in the first five months this year, which is an increase of 17% from the same period last year, despite a downturn in business vehicle sales.
