China Trade Show Guide

Since China’s accession to WTO, the exhibition industry is confronted with a new situation — challenges together with opportunities. Analyzing the overall situation, characteristics of the exhibition industry can be concluded as follows:

1. China’s accession to WTO will drive the development of China’s exhibition industry.  International and national markets, enterprises’ need for exhibition and the impact of China’s economy on the world economy determine a bright future of China’s exhibition industry.

2. China’s accession to WTO will give rise to fierce competition in China’s exhibition industry. We should recognize our own shortcomings and then learn from foreign exhibition companies.

3. China’s accession to WTO will promote the conformity of China’s exhibition industry. Conformity will make a more specified, commercialized exhibition industry.

4. China’s accession to WTO will facilitate the building of exhibition halls. Some exhibition cities will build a set of middle-sized exhibition centers, which creates favorable conditions for the holding of large-scale exhibitions in China.

5. China’s accession to WTO will reduce the government activities related to exhibitions since commerce associations and professional enterprises or companies will take the initiative.

6. China’s accession to WTO will facilitate reform of the existing exhibition examination and ratification system, which, according to the principles of WTO, should be abolished. But judging from the real situation of China’s exhibition industry, this system will not and should not immediately be abolished. It is still not the right time.

7. China’s accession to WTO will facilitate the conformity of prices. It is the voice of foreign exhibition organizers and exhibitors that they should be treated the same way as Chinese organizers and exhibitors.

8. China’s accession to WTO will promote the realization of self-discipline in China’s exhibition industry. A national exhibition association will be established in the near future.
